I am still here!

Been on a little trip so no posts for a few days.  Went out to Carson City Nevada and spent 4 days visiting old friends and enjoying the fresh dry air.  But have to say I like the air in Mo. just fine!  Long 3 days going and coming.
Will be glad to get back to my own routine and back in the book store Wed.  Hopefully I will get that new loom set up and try it out.
More later!

Wisdom

With time, women gain weight because we accumulate so much information and
wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out
to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy,

 we are enormously cultured,
educated and happy.

Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think,
Good grief, look how smart I am!

Chopped off the little pegs!

This is the back side of my little table top loom.  As you can see it is a sectional.  WELL,,,, it was a sectional.  This past weekend I cut the sections off and attached a nice little apron, and a pair of lease sticks, so now I am committed to warping my loom with the warping board, which is what I want.  So I am happy.  will post a picture when I have it warped.  I put a small (48) ends on it so I could finish out a few mug rugs that I have an order for.  Worked really well. With the sectional I had such a hard time keeping the wrapping smooth (none of the edges in the ditch) I was constantly having to place blocking in several places where the tension would get to loose. Sort of spoiled the fun of weaving.  So no more warping post, it went bye bye with the monster loom.
I have the floor loom at the college warped now with my lt brown and red.  So when I get back to it, I will be ready to start weaving.  I am pretty slow as there is always so much visiting going on around me.  The warping pattern is a little complicated at least for me and I don't want to make a mistake.
Here is a sneak peek of my new loom at home.  I will be happy to get it warped soon and make something.  The balls in the background are all sweaters I have collected and cut up.  Plus that little chest if full of weft plus a whole bunch more.  I could weave for the next year I think just to use all this up.  What was I thinking??

Sold!

Got the big monster loom sold this past weekend.  Glad to see it go.  I ran an ad on Craigs list and this guy from about 100 miles away bought it.  Turns out he is an immigrant from Chili and he is wanting to learn to weave again.  Apparently he used to know how about 20 years ago and remembers the basics.  He got the big warping post too.  So now I have room to set up my new loom and get on with some ideas.

At class today I started a new project.  I figured out how much warp I would need and put it on the warping board. Will be using  2 colors so that I can learn how to do that and warp the loom.  So have the warp wound on the beam and had to stop.  Only took me 2 1/2 hrs to do all that!  So next time I will get all the warping done and can start weaving the pattern I picked out.  I think it will be colorful if not down right awesome!!  Pictures in a couple weeks.

Not perfect, but it was fun

It measures about 6 inches wide and 36 inches long

It was my runner of various patterns for my practice piece at the college. Guess I will hang it on the wall in my "studio".
Going to warp up a floor loom next week after I pick out a runner to do of all one design.  Maybe about 12 inches wide.  I sort of like the one that looks sort of gray here.  It is actually a pretty shade of a dusty green.  Not sure what I will use to weave with.  Would like to try something with some texture, but will see.

Still haven't mentioned much yet about the new loom.  Have a potential buyer for the monster loom, so will know Sat. if it is sold, then I will get serious and take some pictures.

Have to tell a funny story about my Craigs Listing.  I got an immediate e-mail response, (after I said in my sales info to please call me, no e-mails)  Anyway the party wanted to buy it site unseen, send a cashiers check and would pick up after I cashed it and they wanted my address.  I responded to say I thought they were scamming me and I would be flagging them to Craigs List.  I got a response back and they called me a foooooooooool!  That I had no faith and they didn't have time to run around looking at everything.  I just about cracked up!  I still think it was a scam and they would be sending something funky for me to cash for to much money and then they would want the difference.  I know there are all kinds of scammers out there.  Shame on them!
